According to the Holy Qur’an (2:124)1, Hazrat Abraham⁽ᶜ⁾ was the Imam of the time appointed by God and this Imamat continues by divine appointment in Abraham⁽ᶜ⁾’s progeny

Is Abraham the “Imam of the time” or the prophet of the time? I assume that the words imam and prophet are not interchangeable because that would mean that Abraham and the present imam have the same “status” in that both are imams of their respective times. But really the present imam is not a prophet whereas Abraham is.
