“Glorified and Exalted
is He in Whose Hand
is the Kingdom of all things,
and to Him you will be returned.”
When reading the above Qur’anic verse, a believer may pause to appreciate its beautiful language and imagery and experience a moment of remembrance or realization that one day, they will indeed return to Allah. Yet when the verse is read in the light of Ismaili principles of esoteric interpretation (ta’wil) and through the illumination of the Manifest Imam’s light, spiritual secrets and profound wisdom may be revealed to the mind and heart of the mu’min striving upon the path of gnosis (ma‘rifah).
